Cobb County C.U.T.I.E.S, Inc (also doing business as Men of Grandeur, Inc) is a nonprofit agency providing crisis prevention/ intervention and mentoring programs for youth ages 8-19 in the Greater Cobb County and Metro Atlanta. From this point forward, CUTIES will also represent Men of Grander, Inc which is the male counterpart of the organization. CUTIES is an acronym representing: Courageous Unique Teens discovering their Identities by Embracing their Self-worth. The program will form partnerships with local school districts, Department of Family and Children Resources, and the juvenile court system. Cobb County C.U.T.I.E.S, Inc's goal is to foster a commitment to young people that will promote pro-social friendships, strong interpersonal skills, and reassert a sense of hope in the future. Only through personal relationships can a sense of individual responsibility be re-established. This will give the youth the commitment to follow through on path to adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Through repeated disappoints in life, the disconnect of the family unit, and the development of destructive habits, at-risk young people have lost faith in the possibilities that await them if they were successful in putting their lives together. To accomplish this goal, young people must be in a caring, inclusive learning environment that promotes their best effort and reinforces personal respect.
Cobb County CUTIES, Inc is a program that is in direct response to the growing number of young people that are either falling through the cracks in the community, at school or are already entangled with the juvenile court system. The goal of the program is to identify youths who could be at risk for having a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the young person to make positive changes in his/her life by offering a sister/brotherhood where anyone between the target age is accepted.
Cobb County CUTIES, Inc will focus primarily on middle school youths. It is projected that within three years, 50% of the system's students will be in middle school. This age group is particularly problematic and a perfect time for mentoring to be effective.
Cobb County CUTIES, Inc's mentoring programs will offer group advisement and pair a youth with mentor for one-on-ones as needed (continuous until the youth exceeds the age criteria). During one-on-one time the two will participate in planned activities to strengthen the relationship between them and improve the young person's confidence and hopefulness. Mentors will receive continuous training throughout the year and will participate in monthly meeting to report the young person's progress.
Over time, Cobb County CUTIES, Inc will create a learning environment that will be an invaluable resource to young people, aspiring mentors, and the community at large.
Men of Grandeur Inc is the brother organization to Cobb County CUTIES Inc. This sector of the organization was created as a mirror image of what the CUTIES represent; however, the concerns are delivered in such a way that the young men of tomorrow can only appreciate.
Although this organization was founded by a strong-willed female (Ms. Danice H. Wilson), it is run by male mentors who reside in the Cobb County and Metro Atlanta areas. Men of Grandeur members are young men ages 8-19 regardless of race, color, or creed. Here at MOG, we go beyond the typical "big brother" level and guide these young males to be greater men of the future.
Parents, your child do not have to be "at-risk" to participate. We simply want to start as early as possible with these individuals in hopes to keep them from traveling down a negative path.
